Speaker - Kenneth Theimer, Reliability Manager

Ken Theimer has worked for Evans Enterprises, now a part of Integrated Power Services, for seventeen years. In that time, he has worked as a motor winder, mechanic, and field service technician. Currently Mr. Theimer works with both the Engineering and Training Group of Integrated Power Services. He is an ISO certified Category 3 vibration analyst, rotating machinery balancing specialist, and a certified technician in various models of ABB and Toshiba Drives. His primary responsibilities include technician training, vibration and motor circuit analysis troubleshooting of electromechanical systems, and coordinating with customers to create Condition Based Maintenance programs that incorporate periodic vibration and ultrasonic analysis, thermal imaging, and motor circuit analysis.

In addition to his work with Evans Enterprises, Ken is an adjunct faculty member at Vernon College where he teaches courses in Basic Principles of Electricity, Physics of Instrumentation, Electric Motor Controls, Introduction to Programmable Logic Controllers, and Electromechanical Maintenance. He has served numerous times on the College’s curriculum advisory committee, four times as Chairman.

Seminar Description

Electric Motor Troubleshooting will cover identifying faults in components of electric motors such as stators, rotors and bearings. Case studies will be presented that include technologies that can help positively identify damaged or defective components including vibration, ultrasonic, and motor circuit analysis. Root causes of motor failures will also be discussed, identifying contributing factors such as improper maintenance, repair, and applications.
